Acid

What is CBDA?

CBDA (cannabidiolic acid) is the carboxylated form of CBD, formula C22H30O4, CAS 1244-58-2. CBDA synthase makes it from CBGA in the plant, and heat removes CO₂ to give CBD. Formulators buy it when they need the acid rather than the neutral, and store it cold because it decarboxylates on a warm shelf.

Formula

Origin

CBDA is the pentyl acid on the CBD branch. Store it at 2–8 °C after receipt.

Established

  • Identity as the acid of CBD.
  • Thermal decarboxylation.

Not yet

  • Shelf stability equal to CBD; the acid degrades faster.

Questions

Will CBDA turn into CBD in my process?

Yes, if you heat it. Name the species you need at the end of the process on your inquiry, and we will quote that one.
