CBG vs CBGa: acid or neutral?
CBGa (C22H32O4, CAS 25555-57-1) is the carboxylic acid; CBG (C21H32O2, CAS 25654-31-3) is the neutral it becomes when heat removes CO₂. The plant's synthases act on the acid, not the neutral. Which one to buy depends on which species your process still contains at the end: a hot fill converts CBGa to CBG, so specify the neutral unless the carboxyl group matters to your chemistry. CBGa also needs cold storage.
