Varin series

What is CBGV?

CBGV (cannabigerovarin) is the propyl homolog of CBG: the same geranyl core with a three-carbon side chain instead of five. Its acid, CBGVA, is the varin analog of CBGa, and decarboxylation yields neutral CBGV. Formula C19H28O2, CAS 55824-11-8. Very little compound-specific pharmacology has been published.

Origin

CBGV runs parallel to the pentyl CBG line. The pathway is inferred from the verified pentyl chemistry; the structure itself is confirmed directly.

Established

  • Formula C19H28O2, C3 homolog of CBG.
  • Acidic precursor CBGVA analog of CBGa.

Not yet

  • Any human data set specific to CBGV.

Questions

CBGV vs CBG?

CBGV has a shorter side chain, and that is enough to change receptor behaviour. Do not carry CBG receptor language over to CBGV.
