Bulk CBN isolate: what it is and how to buy it
Bulk CBN isolate is cannabinol (CAS 521-35-7, C21H26O2) purified to ≥99.9% and supplied as a crystalline solid. CBN is not made by a plant enzyme; it forms as THC and THCa oxidise, so commercial CBN is produced and purified deliberately rather than harvested. Peregrine sells it as an ingredient from 5 g to 100 kg, with a per-lot COA and an SDS on request, for sleep-category product developers, cosmetic formulators and analytical labs. How is CBN isolate made?
There is no CBN synthase in the plant, so CBN is either recovered from aged material or produced by controlled oxidation and aromatisation of a THC-line precursor, then purified by chromatography and crystallisation. Because the route runs through THC chemistry, the residual Δ9-THC value on the COA is the number a sleep-brand buyer should read first.
Fully aromatised, CBN is chemically more stable than CBG or CBD — it is already the oxidation end-product — which is one reason it stores well at ambient temperature.
What should a COA for CBN isolate show?
Identity and assay for the named cannabinoid, at minimum. Identity is HPLC against a qualified reference standard; when a primary standard is on allocation, Peregrine discloses NMR or LC-MS identity on the COA rather than implying HPLC. Assay is reported as percent w/w of CBN, and a lot is listed as Available only after both clear.

CBN isolate or water-dispersible CBN powder — which one do I need?
Buy the isolate when your specification names the molecule: tinctures, softgels, topicals, analytical work and any formula where you control the carrier. Buy the water-dispersible powder when the process needs a powder that disperses in water — beverages, stick packs, gummies made on a water-based line — and you can formulate against a 10–20% w/w CBN assay instead of ≥99.9%.
They are different SKUs with different assay language, and the powder is never described as if it were isolate.
How should CBN isolate be stored and handled?
Ambient, dry and dark unless the COA says otherwise. CBN is lipid-soluble and practically insoluble in water; it dissolves readily in MCT and other carrier oils and in ethanol. Weigh by assay.

Questions about CBN
Is CBN isolate made from THC?
CBN is the oxidation product of THC-line chemistry, so commercial CBN is produced through that route and then purified. The Δ9-THC remaining is a lot-level result on the COA.
What purity is Peregrine CBN isolate?
≥99.9% cannabinol by HPLC, reported as percent w/w on the lot COA.
Does Peregrine make sleep claims for CBN?
No. Human sleep trials exist and are summarised on the CBN and sleep page; none is a Peregrine study, and the isolate is sold as an ingredient, not a finished product.
Can I buy CBN isolate in 100 g or 1 kg?
100 g is quoted today alongside the 5 g cut. 1 kg and larger tiers open per campaign and are quoted by a person.
Do you offer a water-soluble CBN?
Yes, as a separate SKU: water-dispersible CBN powder, spray-dried on a carrier, assayed as CBN-in-powder.
Does CBN make you sleepy?
It is marketed that way, and oral CBN has been studied for sleep in people, but the results do not support a claim. Peregrine sells CBN isolate as an ingredient. Sleepz, our finished 7-hour formula, is a separate product still in development.
Is CBN the same as Sleepz?
No. CBN isolate is a wholesale ingredient we sell today. Sleepz is a 7-hour release formula in development and not yet for sale.
Does CBN get you high?
CBN is not Δ9-THC, and its weak receptor activity is not a THC high. A CBN product can still carry trace THC, which is why you read the COA.
